Luna Imaging, Inc.Formed with support from the J. Paul Getty Trust and Eastman Kodak Company, Luna Imaging Inc. is a respected leader in the digital imaging field. Luna provides both the highest quality services to convert collections into digital form, and its Insight® software, which provides a complete visual environment for working online with high-resolution images and data from anywhere at anytime. Luna has built a solid reputation working with some of the most prominent and demanding museums, archives and universities from around the world to create high quality image collections and tools for working with these important digital resources. The company was founded in 1993 by Dr. Michael Ester, drawing on his many years of experience working with cultural heritage materials as the director of the Getty Art History Information Program. LocationLuna Imaging is located within the Los Angeles Media Tech Center, which was built in 2000 and is a master planned business park located immediately south of Glendale and within minutes of downtown Los Angeles and the Tri-City area of Glendale, Pasadena, and Burbank and convenient to the Burbank airport. Management TeamDavid Rumsey, Chairman of the Board David Rumsey became Chairman of the Board in January 2006. He first started working with Luna Imaging in 1995, when he began the task of digitizing his map collection. With over 13,000 high resolution images, the collection is widely distributed through Luna’s Insight software. In 2002, he was given an Honors Award from the Special Libraries Association for making his collection available to the public. In the same year the site won a Webby Award for Technical Achievement. David received his BA and MFA from Yale University, and he serves on many boards including The Long Now Foundation and the Stanford University Library Advisory Board. He has lectured widely and has contributed to several publications on cartography and the advent of GIS. Marlo Lee, Chief Executive Officer Marlo Lee was appointed CEO in January of 2006. With Luna since 2003, Marlo played a key role in the success of Luna's digital imaging division, where under his leadership Luna was able to deliver a new level of expertise, quality control and security to its services. Before joining Luna, he served as manager of creative services for Walt Disney Imagineering, where he led several projects to digitize and manage Disney's art and media assets and oversaw the development and implementation of the Image Browser online archive. He has a degree in photography and communications from Brigham Young University. Drake Zabriskie, Chief Technology Officer Drake took on the role of CTO in January of 2006. In this position, he oversees all software development and client support functions for Luna’s Insight software. With Luna Imaging since 1994, Drake rose up through the ranks starting as manager of digital imaging services. He holds a degree in fine art photography from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Nancy Harm, Director of Business Development As Director of Business Development, Nancy is responsible for sales and marketing, strategic partnerships, and product direction. With Luna since 1999, she worked in the capacity of Account Manager and Eastern Regional Sales Manager until her promotion in April 2006. She brings core market knowledge to Luna through her prior experience in the museum, archive, and university communities. She has a BA degree in Art History from the State University of New York. |
