Los Angeles, CA - May 7, 2001 "We had outgrown our space," says Michael Ester, president of Luna Imaging Inc., which provides high resolution scanning services and software that is used by some of the most prominent museums, universities and libraries in the country to provide online access to their visual collections. "Our larger corporate headquarters provides us the space we need to service our current customers and accommodate future growth." Driving the company's increased space needs is the demand for Luna's services and software. Last month, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation announced it is adopting Luna's Insight® software as the platform for ArtSTOR, a new independent not-for-profit organization that will distribute digital resources for the study of art, architecture and other fields in the humanities. In recent months Luna has formed alliances with LizardTech, a leader in compression technology, and Lee & Lee Communication, the sole licensee of images from the National Palace Museum, which also represents several other museums in mainland China. Both are encouraging use of Luna Imaging's Insight® software and scanning services. Formerly located in Venice Beach, California, Luna is now located in what is known at the Umbrella building at Conjunctive Points in Culver City, 3542 Hayden Ave., Bldg. One. Designed by Erin Owen Moss architects, http://www.ericowenmoss.com, the Umbrella building is a former industrial site that derives its name from the cascading series of laminated glass panels mounted over an open air platform and stairway. The Umbrella functions as a bandstand for musicians or speechmakers and as a lunchtime seating area. Luna's telephone and fax numbers will remain the same, although employee extensions will change. For more information call (310) 452-8370. Based in Culver City, CA, Luna Imaging Inc. (www.lunaimaging.com) enables museums, libraries and archives to build and distribute high-quality visual collections in digital form and provides sophisticated software to access and use image collections over the Internet.
