(Spring Internet World) LOS ANGELES, March 14, 2001
Luna Imaging Inc. of Venice, Calif., today announced it has entered into a partnership agreement for its digital imaging services and Insight® software with LizardTech Inc., the Seattle-based developer of leading imaging software, for the management of large, high-quality image collections online.

Through this partnership, Luna and LizardTech will provide a cooperative solution for high-resolution digital imaging and scanning services using LizardTech's MrSID® Photo product line and Luna's Insight software. Insight provides customers with a turnkey solution for accessing high-quality image collections online with tools for the searching, viewing, comparing, presenting and organizing of related images and data. MrSID Photo eliminates the need for multiple image files for different purposes by encoding a digital photograph into a single-source image of reduced file size that maintains the quality and integrity of the original. MrSID Photo also ends lengthy image transfers by reducing large image files into bandwidth-optimizing files that can be sent quickly via the Internet and offer users instant access to images.

"Providing better image quality in a faster, more efficient way is what LizardTech does best. Therefore, this relationship is a natural fit for both LizardTech and Luna," said John Grizz Deal, LizardTech's president and CEO. "Together, we provide all the solutions necessary for digitizing and quickly accessing high-resolution, online image collections using available bandwidth while still maintaining the original image quality."

The agreement builds on an existing relationship between these two innovators in the digital imaging arena. LizardTech's MrSID format has been used in some Insight collections, enabling Luna customers to achieve their vision of providing online access to their collections, including the David Rumsey collection (www.davidrumsey.com), which includes thousands of rare 18th- and 19th-century maps.

Luna Imaging President Michael Ester said, "This agreement supports our goal of making Insight the platform of choice for managing and accessing high-quality image collections online in a variety of markets. We want to ensure that viewing these visual materials is simple and efficient and second in quality only to accessing the originals themselves. By working with LizardTech, we will be able to introduce customers in many markets to the value of our combined offerings."

As part of the agreement, Luna will continue to enhance the integration of new LizardTech technology into Insight for more efficient and better interface of both products for users, thus allowing easier, more convenient access to image collections.

LizardTech is focused on innovative solutions that provide users at all levels with bandwidth optimization and instant access to high-resolution, multipurpose digital images, documents and multimedia content through its MrSID and DjVuŽ applications.

Luna Imaging built its reputation on providing superior direct digital capture and scanning services to some of the most prominent museums, universities and libraries in the United States, many of which also use Luna's Insight software as the environment for managing and using their visual collections online.

With offices in Seattle and Amsterdam, LizardTech, Inc., (www.lizardtech.com) is one of the world's leaders in imaging technologies. A privately held company, LizardTech is committed to providing tools to deliver high-quality content instantly over the Internet. The company provides innovative solutions that optimize bandwidth and provide immediate access to high-resolution, multipurpose digital images and multimedia content. LizardTech licensed Generation I of its MrSID technology from Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and acquired its DjVu technology from AT&T Labs for the commercialization of both product lines. LizardTech's software is currently installed on more than 25 million desktops and integrated into over 200 applications.
