LUNA IMAGING GIVING AWAY 25K IN SOFTWARE Drawing for New Software Solution being Held at Conference in Philadelphia CULVER CITY, CA- January 7, 2002 To celebrate the launch of its new product, Luna Imaging is giving away a copy of its newest software solution valued at $25,000 that makes building visual collections online quick, easy and economical. Luna's Insight software has been used for nearly a decade by some of the most prominent universities and museums in the country to manage and work with their visual materials. Beginning January 7, individuals can submit online entry forms for the software drawing that will take place during the American Library Association Midwinter Conference. Entry forms can be found online at http://www.lunaimaging.com/entry or by visiting Luna Imaging's booth 1823 at the ALA meeting in Philadelphia. Luna Imaging's Insight® is multi-platform, scalable software that enables users to dynamically view and work with high-resolution images, data, video and audio materials online. Visual collections within Insight are being used in a variety of ways. Several leading U.S. institutions are using Insight® to draw upon their digital resources for teaching in the classroom, displaying presentations with digital projectors or monitors. Insight® Standard includes all the power of Insight and comes pre-configured with the Visual Resources Association (VRA) Core 3.0 metadata standard. VRA provides guidelines for cataloguing visual resources, but implementation of the standard within a database structure is left up to the individual. This can be a very complicated task that has a direct bearing on the ability of end users to search and retrieve images, says Megan Marler, Luna Imaging Director of Sales and Marketing. "We saw a need, so we took the VRA guidelines and integrated them into a fully relational database within Insight," Marler says. "The result is an easy-to-use tool that anyone can use to build their digital collections from the ground up with the assurance that the data associated with those visual resources is consistent with the VRA guidelines." The new software is also easy to use. Simply install Insight Standard and begin adding content to a new Insight collection. As new records are created, Insight Standard provides the fields to be completed, ensuring that the visual resources are catalogued in accordance with the VRA guidelines. Insight Standard also comes with Luna's data editing tool called Inscribe, which enables users to create, edit, and delete catalog information over the Internet. Inscribe comes complete with the Getty's Art & Architecture Thesaurus with additional support for ULAN and TGN. Among the other features of Insight Standard are workflow tracking, local vocabulary support, online training, and software productivity tools for adding and cataloging unlimited numbers of additional images to your visual resource collection with local management of user accounts and privileges through Insight® Administrator Tools. The deadline for submitting entries for the drawing is 5 p.m. EST on January 25. The drawing will be held on Sunday, January 26 at 12:45 p.m. at Luna's booth at the conference. Employees and family members of Luna Imaging, Inc. are not eligible for the drawing and only one entry per person will be accepted. However, multiple individuals from an institution or organization may submit entries. For a complete list of rules, please review the entry guidelines online at http://www.lunaimaging.com/entry. Luna Imaging, Inc., (www.lunaimaging.com) is based in Culver City, CA.
