Launched in May, 2012 the collection has attracted worldwide attention. The NYC Department of Records opted for LUNA to host the collection as it continues to get heavy traffic and usage.

The BookReader integrates the discovery and display of compound objects such as books, manuscripts, and newspapers in LUNA. LUNA’s new BookReader allows users to search inside a book, turn its pages, and zoom into the text. Of course. And because our BookReader is a part of the amazing LUNA browser, its added features make it rise above the competition. In addition to descriptive data, BookReader objects are indexed for full text searching. See an example.
Designed for Pictopia printing services but developed in a generic way that may be used for other print on demand services, the eCommerce solution adds a “Buy” link to the Detail View within LUNA. This allows each and every image in a collection to easily be available for reproductions.

Contact Support to learn more about implementing this feature to your LUNA collections.

Collections in Insight can be built for public, private, or shared access. Insight collections published to LUNA are fully optimized for web search engines and distribution-ready for the new LUNA Commons, thereby providing access to thousand of end users who may not otherwise know about your collections. Collections available through the LUNA Commons can also be available through your institutional license. This way, all of your LUNA collections can be centrally managed for your user community.

We are pleased to highlight how Cornell University represents both Cornell collections as well as LUNA Commons collections in one location — allowing users to quickly search and discover resources without having to jump from site to site. Visit the Cornell University LUNA Collections Portal.
