Visit www.lunacommons.org to preview the new public destination for discovering Insight Community Collections. Explore amazing resources in each individual collection or browse and search all of the LUNA Commons collections as one.

With the introduction of our popular Access Scanning Services earlier this year we've been exploring new metrics for 35mm slide capture. The results? We now offer fast and affordable access level slide scanning for under $1.00 per slide! This new service inherits many features of our industry leading Preservation Scanning Services, giving you the level of quality and care you expect from Luna Imaging. Call us to discuss your projects and we'll work with you to provide our new economical approach so that you can keep your digitization projects moving forward in 2009.

LUNA version 6.0.1 was released last month and adds support for the playback of .flv (Flash Video) files in both the Workspace and the Detail View. To see all the new features of the LUNA browser, watch the LUNA Overview Flash tour.

With the addition of so many advanced new features you would have expected us to increase the price for a license...but we didn't. Insight with LUNA is still available at an incredibly low license cost and no per-seat charges.

As you know, LUNA’s integration with Flickr allows users to combine their institutional Insight content with the millions of images available on Flickr. Now with the Flickr Commons, users can create media groups and presentations for sharing and collaborating with institutional content, their personal Flickr images and with content from major cultural heritage institutions.

The Library of Congress is one of 16 institutions contributing photos to the Flickr Commons. The LOC recently released a report titled "For the Common Good: The Library of Congress Flickr Pilot" detailing the results of the first nine months of the pilot. Overall the project has been a great success and has increased "awareness of the Library and its collections." The LOC will continue to participate in the Flickr Commons and proves to be a wonderful model for other institutions seeking to increase their presence on the web and in Web 2.0 communities.

The many institutions participating in the Flickr Commons have successfully demonstrated how important it is to consider a more open environment for their collections and we at Luna Imaging hope to continue to support this through our software development.

We look forward to seeing you in Denver, Seattle, and Indianapolis.

Next month we’ll be at the American Library Association mid-winter conference in Denver, CO. In March we’ll be in Seattle for the ACRL conference and in April we’ll be in Indianapolis for Museums and the Web.

We are happy to schedule appointments to talk about your digital imaging needs and to review the new features in the LUNA interface to our Insight Software Suite- it's never to early to plan for future projects!

To schedule an appointment, please contact sales@lunaimaging.com or call 1.800.452.LUNA (5862).
