Development is going well and the Beta release of Insight v6.0 + LUNA is only months away. Independent of Insight, LUNA is the new
browser front end that will dynamically expose images and data from Insight repository collections. Together, LUNA and the Insight Software Suite
provide superior end-user interfaces for searching, viewing and managing images, audio video, and other media.
With LUNA, users can perform simple keyword searches as well as more complex structured queries, and control how they view, browse, and organize their
results to create groups and presentations. LUNA includes the Web 2.0 tools your users are demanding which enable them to save and share their work by linking
and embedding any view, image, group, or presentation.

Lantern slides represent a unique scanning dilemma since they are comprised of both the transmissive slide and the reflective border area.
While the image itself is the focus of the capture, the border around the slide typically contains information that puts the lantern slide into context
and identifies the historical source of the image. Unfortunately, there is no capture technique that supports both transmissive and reflective content
in a single capture.
But with a recent project for the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, our DIS staff successfully devised a process for compiling both the transmissive and reflective
aspects of the lantern slide.
